Nearly 60 Snakes Turned In During Annual Hunt

The results of the 2017 Sinnemahoning Snake Hunt are in, with nearly 60 snakes turned in throughout the weekend event held at the Sinnemahoning Sportsmen’s Club.

The event is hosted by the sportsmen’s club and the Keystone Reptile Club, which facilitates several such hunts throughout the state annually. Of those, Sinnemahoning typically boasts the biggest turnout and the most snakes entered in the contest.

While many hunters register for the event, many non-hunters attend to learn about snakes and see the other attractions that are set up for the weekend. Vendors come from across the state with a variety of items, educational programs are held for children that include snake races and hands-on opportunities to interact with non-venomous reptiles, a chicken barbecue is held, and lots of other delicious food is available for purchase. Camping is available on-site for people who want to make a weekend of the event.
