Cameron County Commissioners Receive Gas Drilling and Well Permits

    Cameron County Commissioners announced several notifications received from companies working in the natural gas industry. Three notices were sent by Samson Energy for consumptive water use permits numbered NOI-2014-0314; NOI-2014-0308; and NOI-2014-0309.

‘Warshed and Wrenched’

  It seems  I remember that clothes and dishes were not “washed” they were “warshed.”  After they were “warshed” they weren’t “rinsed” they were “wrenched.”   Do you remember that?

  (1920-2014) Anna M. Laird, 94, of 610 South Michael Road, St. Marys, died on Monday (Sept. 8, 2014) at Penn Highlands Elk following a short illness.  

Lt. William Turner

  (1928-1952) 1st Lt. William Irvin Turner, 24, died (Nov. 22, 1952) while on board a C-124 Globemaster plane that crashed on Colony Glacier Mt. Gannet, Alaska. The crash site was discovered in 2012 and his remains were identified in 2014.  

Madeline DeMark

  (1926-2014) Madeline V. DeMark, 88, of 157 S. Main St., Portville, New York, formerly of Austin, died on Monday evening (Sept. 8, 2014) at Olean General Hospital, Olean.  

Kathleen Balizet

  (1954-2014) Kathleen M. Balizet, 59, of East Lyme, passed away Friday (Sept. 5, 2014) at her home in East Lyme, Connecticut surrounded by her family.  

Jaime Lininger

  (1979-2014) Jaime L. Lininger, 35, of 303 Howard Circle, formerly of Bradford, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning (Sept. 10, 2014) at Penn Highlands Elk, St. Marys.          

BBQ Contest To Be Held Homecoming Weekend

    The first annual All Fired Up & Kicking Ash BBQ Competitions will be held on Saturday, September 27 in Emporium. The contest is being sponsored by the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce. Registration is currently open, but will close as of this Thursday, September 18.

Emporium Fall Ladies Conference

    The Fall Ladies Conference, “Knowing His Ways”, will take place on Saturday, September 20th, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Emporium Alliance Church on Sizerville Road.  The morning will include worship, teaching, special music, refreshments, and lunch — and all ladies are invited.
