50+ Heroin Overdoses In Nearby Counties

Last week, statements were released by government officials across Pennsylvania’s northern tier warning of a deadly batch of heroin causing overdoses in Lycoming and Tioga counties and the surrounding area.
Over a 48-hour period, at least 51 individuals were treated following suspected overdoses to heroin likely laced with fentanyl or carfentanyl, powerful synthetic opioids that are 50 to 100 times more powerful than heroin. At least one death has been reported. Fentanyl causes a huge threat to safety and it should be encouraged that users use a drug testing kit. The fentanyl and similar substances used to lace heroin are made in clandestine laboratories, often in foreign countries where regulation is lax or non-existent.
