REUNION – TRIBUTE CHORUS WITH SUE ANN BEVERIDGE CONDUCTING AND SPECIAL GUEST RON TUSING

September 29th starting at 1:pm will be an afternoon of bringing memories and mentors back from our memories into the reality of our present life.

Sue Ann Beveridge will walk out on to the stage of the Cameron County High School auditorium and after a brief retirement of fourteen years, she will raise her baton to lead a chorus of nearly 100 voices in songs that will bring both laughter and tears to one thousand of her closest friends and former students in the audience.

When Hometown Mentors, Inc. said we will sponsor a choral concert with Sue Ann Beveridge conducting, Facebook friends said, “Let’s sing with Ms. B one more time, just like we did before.” Volunteers in Emporium asked to help plan and work the event. Former students are coming back home to give back love to Sue Ann and show her how much they thought of her teaching and mentoring back in the late 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

They will be flying from California, New Mexico, Georgia, Florida and Texas. They are driving from New York, Virginia and all corners of Pennsylvania to sing, one more time, under the direction of their favorite teacher, who some say was “the best music teacher ever.” Whether Sue Ann Beveridge was the best teacher or not, Hometown Mentors, Inc. is pleased to be presenting her with the first ever “Hometown Mentors Lifetime Achievement Award”. She will be escorted by Judy and Jerry Sasala and all past and current teachers in the Cameron County Area School District will be recognized during the concert.

The program will include the CCHS band, under the direction of Dan Sensing. The Singing Dutchmen, under the direction of Ed Schwer, will come from around the area to sing for the event. Ken Ostrum will sing a Ringo Star number and Jan Hampton will solo in the chorus rendition of an Abba song, “Thank You For the Music.”

David Labrozzi, Vice President of CBS Radio in Baltimore, MD, will favor the audience as the Master of Ceremonies and the audience will get to take part in some singing of their own as the words to some songs will be on the screen like a karaoke night. The members of the chorus will greet you as you enter the high school so you can reminisce with old friends and familiar faces from your past.

All participants are excited to be singing together again and we hope that you will purchase a $5.00 ticket from one of these local businesses: Aroma Cafe, Cameron County Chamber of Commerce, Cameron County Echo, Emporium Pharmacy, Haaus 1 Stop Computer Shop, Kim Reed’s Beauty Salon, Reid’s Hometown Emporium, South Park Supply and Pat Harrier for HMI.

Be sure to mark your calendar for the two hour concert, Sunday, September 29, 2013, starting at 1:00 pm in the CCHS auditorium. You will hear and sing along to songs including: “Proud to be an American”, “Let There be Peace on Earth”, “Day by Day” and more by Billy Joel, James Taylor and the Beatles. You will be singing and tapping your toes because you won’t be able to sit still.

We expect a sell out crowd, so be sure to get your tickets early. The singers have reserved over 150 tickets already for family and friends, so we don’t want you to be disappointed when we sell out. Stop in to get your tickets today.

Hometown Mentors, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)3 and we like to bring people and financial resources back to our hometown and spread the wealth around Emporium/Cameron County wherever the residents find a need. All the proceeds will stay locally, which is important to know.
