At Monday’s workshop meeting of the Cameron County School District Board of Directors, Duane Vicini, President of the Education Consortium of the Upper Allegheny (ECUA), presented information on the Rural Regional Community College of Pennsylvania.

The community college, which had its formation authorized several years ago but has had difficulties in receiving pledged funding from the state, will serve a number of counties, including Cameron, Elk, Potter and McKean, where there are currently no community college options and university branch campuses are few and far between.

“This has been seven years in the making. The money is there but we can’t get it released because of Harrisburg politics,” said Vicini.
