Empty Ballot Slots Expected For Primaries

Cameron County officials expect to see a number of empty spots on the primary ballot this May.

The deadline to file petitions and have a candidate’s name appear on the ballot during primary voting to be held on Tuesday, May 16, is fast approaching, and a number of slots will be empty due to lack of interest across the county.

For most races, candidates need only ten petition signatures in order to appear on the ballot. Still empty in this category are seats on Driftwood Borough Council, a Portage Township Supervisor, judges and inspectors of elections, and the Region III four-year term school board seat, open to residents of East Shippen, Gibson, Grove, Lumber and Portage townships and the Driftwood Borough.
