Formal Ordinance Violation Process Has Begun On Boro Property Owner

A number of initiatives aimed at cleaning up the Emporium Borough were discussed during Monday night’s council meeting.

Two residents of South Broad Street attended the meeting to learn the outcome of a complaint they lodged at the June meeting concerning a blighted structure in their neighborhood.

The apartment building is one of a handful of structures throughout the borough that have fallen into serious disrepair and now pose health and safety hazards to neighboring residents and degrade the appearance of town.

Borough Manager Don Reed stated that he contacted the property owner by telephone, and after several attempts to learn what would be done to remedy the situations at that location and several other properties owned by him, he learned that there would likely be no work done to the structures.
