From the Bleachers

I realize that Lady Red Raider softball Coach Ralph McKimm and a lot of this season’s players weren’t a part of previous seasons, but their win over Smethport last Thursday had to be a huge relief. The Lady Raiders had not won a game in the last two seasons; so not only was it a confidence builder for a young team, but they got a monkey off their back. Or maybe it was a gorilla.

Sometimes it is necessary to recognize kids when they show a special amount of fortitude and the Lady Raiders’ first baseman, Taylor Johnson fits the bill. In the 4-0 loss to Oswayo Valley last week she had a really rough time in the field but shook it off admirably. On Tuesday, Taylor had two hits, including a two-run double that turned out to be the game-winning runs in the victory over Smethport.
