From the Bleachers

I am a fan of ESPN and every morning before work I turn on Mike and Mike for a half hour before I leave for work, largely because the hosts, Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg are entertaining. But ESPN, and especially the Mike and Mike show, seem to think that football and basketball are the only sports being played. It is true that a lot of Americans don’t necessarily follow the National Hockey League, but their disregard for Major League Baseball is maddening.

Earlier in the year, particularly when Evgeni Malkin went down with a serious injury, we were in the break room before work and I said flat out to fellow Penguin fans Joe Krieg and Jason Fabin that Pittsburgh was not making the playoffs this year. To their credit, they both agreed with someone who knows sports as well as I think I do. The Pens are now in the Stanley Cup Finals, proving what Sergeant Shultz once said on Hogan’s Heroes, “I know nothing.”
