From the Bleachers

Coaches are charged with getting their teams to play better as the season goes on and that is why, after Friday’s big loss at the hands of Elk County Catholic, Raider mentor Scott Burnside and his staff will be back on the field Monday, coaching their players to correct mistakes made Friday night.

But sometimes you just have to give credit to the other team.

In this case, the Crusader linemen, Doug Schatz, Joe Kucenski and Mitchell Cashmer were simply the best players on the field and dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage. Kudos to them for a game well played.

After my column last week it was a bit surprising to read that Coudersport was able to go to overtime and defeat AAA Bradford last Friday night. My initial reaction was to attribute the Falcon victory to the CARP Park gremlins that inhabit the Coudersport football field, but the fact is that Bradford, for the enrollment size of their school, has really struggled to be competitive at the AAA level in recent seasons
