From the Bleachers

All of the District 9 football teams have once again been eliminated after the first weekend of the PIAA playoffs; and to be honest, they were barely able to put up a fight. Karns City did stay in their game until the fourth quarter when they gagged up twenty-two points to fall by a score of 36-21 to Central-Martinsburg in the AAA tournament. Kane, who laid waste to D9 Class A and AA competition, were totally destroyed by Wilmington in Class AA as the Wolves trailed 35-0 at the half allowing for the running clock mercy rule to kick in.

And the Ridgway Elkers played solid defense but could muster just thirty-two yards of offense in a 20-7 loss to Farrell. We continue to lag far behind the rest of the state in scholastic football.
