The District 9 basketball playoffs have been completed and to no one’s surprise the Elk County Catholic Crusaders defeated Johnsonburg for the Class A boys’ title. But there are some North Tier League teams, both boys and girls, that placed and will advance to the PIAA playoffs.
First, the Coudy boys remained unbeaten and won the Class AA title, while the Lady Falcons, who have only lost to Class AAA Moniteau, also won a Class AA championship. The boys will play the sixth place team out of District 6, United. The Lady Falcons will play the fifth place team from the WPIAL, Leechburg. I suspect both Falcon squads have an excellent chance of advancing to the second round of the PIAA tournament.
