From the Bleachers

This cold snap and impending possible Nor’easter have come at just the right time for college basketball fans. If there is a lot of snow on the ground we won’t feel guilty for spending all weekend sitting in front of the television set watching the NCAA Tournament.

About half of the District 9 basketball teams made it through the first round and the boys were more successful than the girls. In Class A, Elk County Catholic and Johnsonburg advanced for the boys, while North Clarion and Otto-Eldred advanced in the girls’ tournament. In Class AA Coudersport and Ridgway advanced on the boys’ side, but both Coudersport and Kane were eliminated on the girls’ side.
