From the Bleachers

Our fantasy football draft was held on Saturday night and retired CCHS teacher Tom Glosek made the trek back to Emporium for the annual event. Tom related to me that on July 6th he accompanied his daughter, Julia, a CCHS graduate, to the Pirates-Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The team was honoring their military personnel and Julia was invited as she is a Navy SEAL. Tom said he was impressed that each and every player applauded Julia and she said they all thanked her for her service and that she had an especially nice conversation with Phillie third baseman Maikel Franco.
On Sunday I was watching the Little League World Series when I received a text from my son, Vince to turn to ESPN, which I did. The school where he works, Pine-Richland in Gibsonia, was playing football against Wayne High School from Ohio. I asked if he was there and he said no, he’d rather watch it from his couch; besides, he had already run all the cable for the ESPN truck when he was working at his job as an IT Technician on Friday.
