The Cameron County High School Red Raider varsity football team was searching for its first win of the year but dropped a heartbreaking 27-26 loss at Port Allegany on Saturday. CCHS scored with two minutes left to force overtime and then scored a touchdown in the extra period but was undone by an extra point.

The Raiders trailed at halftime 13-6 despite dominating much of the opening twenty-four minutes. A fumble and an interception contributed to their offensive futility as Derek Beldin provided the only Red Raider points, a two yard touchdown run.

“Turnovers continue to haunt us,” said Red Raider Coach Scott Burnside.

“We needed more points in the first half. We had success in the passing game but couldn’t stretch the field and hit a quick score. ”
