Historical Society Summer Reading Selections

 

“A Contested Claim” by Acclaimed 19th-century novelist Emma Mersereau Newton …her story brings to light questions about the legitimacy of a key treaty between the Pennsylvania colonists and the Six Nations, including the last chief of the Delaware’s whose tribe’s lodge stood in the heart of disputed territory called “Hemlock County,” today known as Cameron County.
