How Your Gas Money Didn’t Go To Ecuador

by William Crisp

On March 4th a verdict was announced in a lawsuit in New York between Chevron and Steven Donziger et al. On the surface it appeared to be a case that those of us environmentalists/conservationists can get behind.

New York Attorney Steven Donziger sued Chevron on behalf of Ecuadorian citizens and entities on the charge that the big oil company had polluted and destroyed a substantial portion of its rain forest and left; seeking $9.5 BILLION dollars in damages (minus $600 million for Donziger and other millions for Washington lobbyist firms). The decision can be found on line; just “google” the names I gave you.
