Installation Costs Nix New Scoreboard

The Cameron County School District (CCSD) Board of Directors discussed a decision not to pursue funding for a new scoreboard for the high school football field during their regular meeting held Thursday night.
The old scoreboard is still in use, but has several problems, including electrical issues, broken siren, and discontinuation of the light bulbs used to illuminate the score, quarter, and other information.
A grant was secured to purchase a new scoreboard some time ago, but the grant did not cover installation, which has been determined to cost the board $16,000, plus the cost of connecting the new scoreboard to the current electrical system. The cost to purchase the scoreboard is about $17,000.
