Local Unemployment Rate at 8%

 

 

Cameron County’s unemployment rate ticked up again last month to 8.0%. Pennsylvania’s rate has also increased, but not by nearly as much.

Over the past two months, the state rate has been calculated at 5.6%, but was recorded at 5.7% for the month of August. Cameron County’s rate for June was 6.9%, showing a more than 1% increase over the past two months.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, all 67 Pennsylvania counties experienced an over-the-year increase in their unemployment rates during the month of August. The volume of unemployment also increased.
