Helzel Withdraws Plea
An Emporium man’s motion to withdraw a guilty plea to one count of Indecent Deviate Sexual Intercourse (IDSI) with a Child was granted on Tuesday at Return Day proceedings at the Cameron County Courthouse.
Arthur A. Helzel, age 35, formerly of 12361 Route 120 in Shippen Township, chose to withdraw his plea, saying, “I’m innocent…. It was the idea of how many years I’d get if I didn’t take the plea,” that convinced him to enter it in the first place.
