Snow, Ice and Freezing Cold Causing Sidewalk Hazards

The Emporium Borough Maintenance Crew has been kept pretty busy this year with all the snow, ice and freezing cold temperatures.
In addition to caring for roadways, the borough also clears snow from between meters in the business district and has to care for sections of sidewalks for properties either owned by the county, or by residents who do not remove snow in a timely manner.
“The only area we really take care of is the metered area–in between the parking meters. It’s not really our responsibility, but we do that to help the business owners,” stated Borough Manager Don Reed.
