Swift Water, Cold Weather Litter Canoe Route With Paddlers

Participants in this year’s Cameron County Canoe & Kayak Classic certainly kept emergency personnel busy with more than 30 water rescues occurring within the less than two hour race.

The water was up, rising nearly eight inches overnight from heavy storms that pounded the county for several days prior. Air temperatures were nearly forty, but the water was only 30 degrees.
