COLD AND ALONE

First of a two part series

I had taken a week off of work to run a February, beaver line in the Pocono Mountains. The weather had been cold and the ponds were frozen over but by the end of the week, an exceptionally warm spell hit and things began to thaw.

I was living out of the back of a 1962 International Scout, parked on a pipeline, a mile from the main road. Because of the sudden thaw,  I started to pull my ice-sets, mostly baited, pole sets, before the ice got too thin.
