Mountain Lines

A field sketch in graphite and colored pencil of a couple of gray fox I’ve seen lately.
In fact, I’m surprised to see any gray fox this spring and in such good condition during child-rearing season.  For some reason this harsh winter was tough on the gray fox.  During my winter hikes this year, I came across six separate gray fox carcasses.  I’ve never come across a gray fox carcass on any other winter hikes in the past.
