TURKEY VULTURE

Cathartes aura

There is no bird soaring over the Americas so aptly named as the Turkey Vulture. Its first name, Cathartes comes from the Greek word: kathartes, meaning “the purifier” and aura, from the Native Mexican name for the bird: Auroura.
