‘My Bicycle Story’

Dear Kent,

This is my bicycle story, prompted by my childhood friend, Rita Glasl Poorman’s story.

I never had a bicycle of my own growing up. I have three brothers, Gordy, Jim and John Strycula and at some point they had or shared bicycles. So I learned to ride a boys’ bike. Ouch! I don’t think it was brother Gord’s bike because he inherited (Uncle) Gordy Vogt’s bike and he said his feet barely reached the pedals.

Nowadays, I love any excuse for a bike ride! A few weeks ago, I actually went to South Carolina, and while I was there I decided to rent a bicycle for the day. I had so much fun exploring all the different bike trails. I might not be a professional cyclist just yet, but I always have a great time on two wheels. Renting a bike is so convenient, especially if you are on vacation. Besides, it is not always possible to bring your own bicycle with you, especially if you are on a road trip, or if you have taken a train for example!

Honestly, there is nothing like feeling the wind rushing through your hair on a sunny bike ride is there? Anyway, if you are heading to Hilton Head in South Carolina anytime soon, you can click here to find out how to rent a bicycle of your own. Go on, you will not regret it, I promise!

Are you a keen cyclist? What are some of your favorite bike trails? Let me know in the comments below! I look forward to hearing from you very soon.
