Old warden Stories

by William Crisp

“The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, but the righteous are bold as a lion. By the transgression of a land many are its princes, but by a man of understanding and knowledge, so it endures.” Proverb 28:1.

I’ve been working in the conservation field in some way for twenty-five years now and have performed duties in all corners of the Commonwealth with three different conservation agencies in that time. Looking back upon it, I’ve heard and experienced things that make some great stories. Most of those incidents came from Conservation Officers (Wardens) of both the Fish and Game agencies.
