Playground in the Wilds

Partnering with three other organizations Cameron County Outdoor Youth Activities (CCOYA) recently coordinated a Playground in the Wilds program for the Cameron County Recreation Center. The young people who attended the program at South Park Playground were introduced to four interesting programs.
Cameron County Conservation District’s Administrative Assistant, Jenn Dixon discussed bears. The students learned how a bear’s habitat affects the bear population, in a program called How Many Bears Can Live in the Forest. It was a great experience, where the students got a chance to feel a real bear mount and then play a game where they were bears themselves while looking for food to survive.
