Rides-for-Vets Volunteers Honored

An appreciation dinner was held on Saturday evening at the Cameron County Vets Club to honor volunteers providing services for the Rides-for-Vets program of Elk and Cameron counties.
This year’s annual dinner recognized more than 20 drivers for dedicating their time and energy to provide rides to medical appointments for veterans living in the two counties. It was sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary, with organization volunteers cooking and serving all food at the event.
“You couldn’t ask for a better bunch of people. They’re all volunteers and they squeeze this into their lives,” said Emporium driver and veteran Bob Hostler. “We have retired people from just about everywhere in the two counties who give up their time to help other people.”
