School Board Officially Accepts Teachers’ Contract

The Cameron County School District Board of Directors voted to accept the contract recently negotiated with the Cameron County Educators’ Association.

The district had initially rejected the recommendations stemming from fact-finding by a third-party arbiter, but after the terms were accepted by the teachers’ group and published online, district representatives met again to approve the findings. The board agreed several weeks ago that they would accept the arbiter’s terms.

Prior to the decision, Superintendent Dr. Keith Wolf had hoped negotiations would lead to a quick resolution. Teachers had been working without a contract for more than two years. The new contract will run through the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
