A number of Shippen Township residents are upset over the condition of the dirt road used to reach their homes.

Glenn Davis, a township resident living along Sizer Run Road, stated that in the 20 years he has owned property in the area, the roadway has never been as bad as it is now. Sections of the steep, winding road are muddy and heavily rutted currently.

Shippen Township Supervisors reported that they are working to improve the road, at a significant cost to the township. So far, more than $75,000 has been spent on the section currently being addressed through the Dirt and Gravel/Low-Volume Roads program, administered through the Cameron County Conservation District (CCCD). The township is applying for additional funds to complete the work, with grants expected to be approved in April.
