Shippen Township Supervisors continue to work with county officials to pursue actions against ordinance violations across the township.

Supervisor and Ordinance Enforcement Officer Philip Brown stated that he worked with Magisterial District Judge Barry Brown and township/county solicitor Tommy Tompkins to work out a procedure whereby citations could be handed out for severe violations of township ordinances.

The process is similar to the one recently undertaken by Emporium Borough officials to deal with a large number of violations that had been difficult to remedy utilizing the old civil complaint procedure. The citation procedure gives the township recourse by allowing the magistrate to issue fines for those found to be in non-compliance after a hearing in which required remedies are detailed and a grace period is given for repairs to be made
