‘Take a Look at the Positives’

Dear Editor:

I am tired of the naysayers.

The demise of Cameron County is premature and greatly exaggerated. It is true that Cameron County has experienced a population decline. At its zenith in the 1960 census the population here was 7,586 and is now approximately 5,000. However, back then there were the baby-boomers and people had larger families. Today, people simply do not have large families. Economics dictate people’s behavior, including procreation of the species.
