Thinking It Out

by William Crisp

There are some advantages to sitting in trees but, unless you’re a primate, it is not the answer to all problems. You can see animals in their natural state, undisturbed. You can enjoy a beautiful new vantage point over the forest. Birds and squirrels will land near or even on you to enhance the experience.

But most of all what I enjoy about it is that it gives me time to think. I pretty much plan out my entire year while sitting in a tree. I’ve made some of my biggest life decisions after hashing things out while straining a limb. I’ve had profound (to me) realizations and awakenings while in trees and I’ve even had some of my best naps nestled in a crown of wood.
