Time Heals

Over the past few weeks I’ve been placed on injured reserve with a medical problem that is now resolved. For a period of time, I was uncomfortable but not too uncomfortable to fish. While I’ve been laid up, other guys have been busy with a major sap run and making syrup. One of my best friends is a syrup producer and he tapped and started cooking early and hasn’t stopped yet.

This year there has been a lot of sap but the sugar content has been very low, making for a lot of work. While he was busy working, I was busy being off and making my bucket list. High on my list is a fishing trip to a walleye river in the Midwest whose name for some reason won’t pass my lips.
