Van Wagner Performance at First Fork Festival

Special guest, singer, songwriter and former coal miner, Van Wagner, will present “Soft Coal, Hard Times” at the First Fork Festival at Sinnemahoning State Park Saturday, October 14, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in front of the Wildlife Center. A little bit of music, a little bit of laughter, and a lot of culture make this unique educational program a reminder of why we should be proud to be from Pennsylvania.
A native of the Danville area, Van Wagner has performed musical storytelling all over the world and has been featured in several film productions. Wagner’s entertaining program takes listeners on a journey through Pennsylvania’s bituminous coal mining heritage and covers how bituminous coal was mined over the past several centuries and most importantly the life of the miners who mined the coal. Drawing on his experience as an underground coal miner in Schuylkill County, Wagner demonstrates dozens of tools spanning over 100 years of coal history.
