Wandering Aimlessly

Last Week’s Wanderings

by Phil Burkhouse

About the time our grandkids began getting their permanent teeth it became obvious that I had to carefully consider my priorities in life and make some adjustments.  The ten years following my retirement I had spent doing things I enjoyed doing, which mainly consisted of sharing my outdoor background with other woods walkers.

I guided a dozen elk hunters and spent considerable time guiding outdoor photographers.  They photographed scenery and a variety of critters, but the hook that always drew these people to our location was elk.  I thoroughly enjoyed guiding both hunters and photographers on many adventures, but when the oldest grandson turned six and started expressing a real interest in hunting and fishing, it was time for a shift in priorities.
