Ticks – You Be Careful Out There!

by Phil Burkhouse

Mary and I motored to DuBois last Wednesday for my annual appointment with the dermatologist to get the latest crop of uglies removed from my beautiful face.  I live the outdoor lifestyle and spend most of my waking hours in some endeavor exposed to sun, and its rays are wreaking havoc with my exposed skin in my old age.  The removal is fairly painless, a quick burn as he freezes a small area on my face, and then I’m off ‘til next year.

As I was patiently seated in the waiting room I heard the nurse question each patient as they were called to see the doctor:  “Have you been to West Africa in the past six weeks?”
