Lightning Bugs, Fireflies

I grin when I hear an excited youngster suddenly screech out, “Look, lightning bugs!” Lightning bugs or fireflies are a familiar sight on hot summer nights and are a challenge and a delight for kids to chase around the yard and catch so they can watch their light. Our little guys have a lot of fun catching them, putting them in a jar, and then watching them glow or blink in groups.
