Wandering Aimlessly

First and Second Fork

by Phil Burkhouse

On Thursday, March 19th, Mary and I combined an early morning horn hunt/bird walk with a stop at the Sinnemahoning State Park Office and Wildlife Center for the second presentation in the series “Stories of Our Past.”  The first presentation on “Preserving Our Heritage” was held on February 19th and dealt with the history of the First Fork and its earliest settlers through to modern times including the origin of Sinnemahoning State Park and the Stevenson Dam.  It was an excellent presentation by Park Environmental Education Specialist Kim Lott and was attended by seventeen interested participants.  The second in this series was presented by Susan Hoy, Vice President of the Cameron County Historical Society, and dealt with the people and history of the First and Second Forks—Sinnemahoning and Driftwood.
