Wandering Aimlessly, Coal Mining in the ‘30s

My grandfather, Harry Burkhouse, was born in 1896 and spent part of his working life below the surface of the earth mining for coal.  He never talked much about his career in the mines, and the only reason I even know about it was I remember his coal miner’s lunch bucket that sat in the kitchen of his home near Hazen.
