Construction of the West Creek Rail Trail is complete, and hikers, bikers, cross-country skiers and snowmobilers can now trek the entire 18.9 miles connecting the Borough of Emporium to the City of St. Marys.

A ceremony to commemorate the completion of the trail will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 7 at the Rathbun trail access point on the West Creek Road.

The trail has been surfaced with compacted gravel, known as Trail Surface Aggregate, and mostly parallels the West Creek from near its source in Elk County to where it joins the Sinnemahoning Creek just outside of Emporium. The trail then extends into the borough along the old railroad grade.
