A Walk in the Morning Sun

by Wallie E. Nelsen

Copied from the Cameron County Centennial edition Press-Independent Thursday, March 31, 1960. CONTINUED FROM LAST WEEK. May 30, 2012.

On the corner of Fourth and Chestnut we have the Rishell Furniture Store with Neal Coppersmith as the right bower. In the same building was the Heilman Hardware. Verne  once told us that he had been there since before there were any hills around the town. Then came the VanWert residence with the fancy iron fence. Next was the post office with Fred Webster as postmaster. Frank Egan was assistant and Miss Huff was a clerk but we can’t remember any of the carriers except Bill Welsh and Victory.
