The Bad of Good Intentions

There are a lot of things that are in camp that we don’t enjoy but it is part of camp. For example, mice wars are legendary in camps around the world. There are red squirrel wars, porcupine wars, bear wars and so on. It’s a good thing these critters can’t vote or we’d be forced to give them the camp or at least build them a room and feed them. In the meantime, while they are part of camp, we try to diminish their impact on our trips.

However, at times, it is better to have those types of uninvited guests than some that are invited. If you are nodding right now, you’ve been to camp or on a trip to hunt or fish, which for purposes of this article, I am including as “camp” because it is. Albeit trip camps are temporary as opposed to the permanent type ones owned and returned to annually, they all have uninvited and invited guests in common.
