Emporium Borough Council Monday night discussed two pending cleanup matters that need to be addressed.

Tina Johns-Solak spoke before council on a matter of trash and an overflowing dumpster in a lot next to the former Jasper Harris Building.

“The dumpster is always overflowing and items are being dumped, including old television sets,” said the Chamber of Commerce head. “The trash is in plain sight right in the middle of our business community.”

Council took action by ordering the area to be cleaned up by borough workers and to inform the renter of the dumpster that the matter must be corrected.
