Boro Man Charged After ATV Incident

An Emporium resident has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person following an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident on private property in Shippen Township.

Jonathan Elmer Wareham, age 37, has been charged with two misdemeanor counts following an incident alleged to have occurred on January 31. Wareham is said to have been seen operating a green ATV with a young child sitting in front of him on the machine, as was observed by a Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) Trooper driving in his official vehicle on Route 120 east of Emporium. The officer reported that helmets were not being worn by the riders.

According to the affidavit of probable cause on file at Magisterial District Barry Brown’s office in Emporium, Wareham was driving the ATV in an erratic manner, spinning donuts and performing slides at a high rate of speed on snow-covered ground.
