Buchanan Waives Preliminary Hearing

Charges were bound over to the Cameron County Court of Common Pleas Thursday after a tax collector accused of failing to remit collected funds waived a preliminary hearing.
Melinda Buchanan, age 39, of Driftwood, was charged last week with two felony counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received and two felony counts of receiving stolen property, following reports to the Pennsylvania State Police by county and borough officials.
Though the hearing was waived on the advice of Buchanan’s court-appointed public defender, Attorney George M. Daghir, a bail modification hearing was held.
