Cameron County’s Democratic Committee continues to move forward  with efforts to  reorganize and strengthen its role in area politics.

The group met earlier this month to formulate plans for the upcoming May 15 Primary Election.

Rich Schweikart, Elk County Democratic Chair, told those in attendance that it was of great importance to fill the positions of precinct party chairmen and the post of county chairman.

Schweikart has been working with the county Democratic organization in its reorganization efforts.

He noted that no Democrats are on the ballot for county or precinct posts in the primary election. These positions could be filled through write-in votes for registered Democrats.

A pair of 15th District Congressional candidates were present at the meeting and addressed the gathering.
