Cameron County Court Return Day

During Return Day proceedings held Tuesday in Cameron County, a number of defendants entered pleas and were sentenced, but several received continuances for their cases.
A guilty plea was accepted by Cameron County President Judge Richard Masson on behalf of Courtney Hays, age 26, of Weedville, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI). Other charges against Hays, including endangering the welfare of children, were not prosecuted.
Hays was arrested following a minor car accident on Mason Hill Road in Gibson Township in which her vehicle went off the road while a four-year-old child was a passenger. Hays was tested and found to have an alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit.
