County Crews Respond To Many Wildfires

Fire companies and DCNR Bureau of Forestry crews were kept on the move last week by wildfires brought on by warm, dry weather and gusty winds.

In Cameron County two wildfires were reported along Route 555 in an area commonly known as the “low grade.”

The first response was just west of Driftwood along the Bennetts Branch of the Sinnemahoning Creek.

That blaze was quickly brought under control with no reports of damage to property.

The following day a fire across the Bennetts Branch near Hicks Run was reportedly sparked by downed electric lines.

Crews were limited to getting water to battle the blaze through the use of brush trucks fording the stream.
